The Bushwackers, Dobe Newton and Roger Corbett discuss the song 'The Ballad of 1891'. It is a very important part of The Bushwackers' stage show but holds a significant place in Folk music history too. It tells of the great shearers' strike of 1891, which ended being broken up at gunpoint by state troopers and put 14 men in jail for their part in this union struggle. You can find various versions of this great song on the albums 'Faces in the Street' and The Bushwackers Australian Songbook Vol 3. It's also on Band camp on the 'Jubilee' Album which has a killer guitar solo by Tommy Emmanuel and you can find this on our Bandcamp page.
